Arrival – Airport to Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport:

After an early breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater is home to a dense population of wildlife, offering one of the best chances to see the Big Five in a single day.

You may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, and, with some luck, the rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before continuing your exploration.

In the late afternoon, ascend the crater and proceed to your lodge in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

After breakfast, depart for the Serengeti.

Spend a full day exploring the Northern Serengeti.

Even outside peak migration, this region offers excellent wildlife viewing in a quieter, less crowded environment.

Morning Game Drive → Arusha

Begin your final day with an early breakfast at your lodge or camp in Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast, head out for a morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife is most active. This is your last opportunity to enjoy the Serengeti and capture final wildlife moments.

Following the game drive, depart and begin your journey back to Arusha. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with scenic landscapes along the way.

You will stop for lunch en route before arriving in Arusha in the late afternoon.

What are the chances of seeing a river crossing?
River crossings are seasonal and unpredictable, typically occurring from July to October. Your guide will position you near the Mara River and track herd movements to maximize your chances.
How is this different from the calving season safari?
This safari focuses on the river crossing phase of the migration in Northern Serengeti, while the calving season safari focuses on births in the southern Ndutu plains. Both offer exceptional but very different wildlife experiences.
